Privacy Policy — Dialed

The short version

Your coffee data stays on your phone. Dialed has no account, brew server, advertising or tracking. Google Play handles Android purchases and its billing library records billing diagnostics as described below.

What stays on your device

Everything you create in Dialed — coffee bags, roast dates, brews, tasting notes, scores, grinder calibrations and app settings — is stored locally in the app’s private storage on your phone. Dialed does not upload it anywhere. On iPhone, it is included in iCloud Backup or encrypted local backups when enabled. On Android, Android may include it in your device backup to your Google Account when backup is enabled. The platform provider handles those backups; Soxoa never receives or reads them. You can manage device backups in your phone’s Settings.

If you use the export feature, a JSON file is written and handed to your phone’s share sheet. Where it goes from there is entirely your choice; Dialed does not send it anywhere itself. Import reads only the backup file you choose, on your device. Brew cards are rendered on your phone and shared only when you ask. On Android, saving a card writes it to Pictures/Dialed in your gallery.

What we do not collect

We do not collect your name, email address, contacts, location, photos, device identifiers, advertising identifiers, or coffee usage analytics. Dialed links no separate analytics, attribution or advertising SDKs and does not use the Android advertising ID. Google Play Billing diagnostics are described below.

Purchases

Dialed Pro is sold through Apple’s In-App Purchase system. Apple processes the payment and tells the app whether a valid subscription or purchase exists. We never see your payment details, and Dialed does not store or transmit them. See Apple’s Privacy Policy at https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/ for how Apple handles that transaction.

Your subscription status is stored on your device so the app and its widgets know which features to unlock.

On Android, Dialed Pro is sold through Google Play billing. Google processes payment and tells the app whether a valid subscription or purchase exists. We never see your payment details. Google handles transactions under its privacy policy. Manage or cancel Android subscriptions from Payments & subscriptions in Google Play.

Google’s Play Billing Library records diagnostics about billing API successes and failures and service connection issues. Google documents that this logging improves the library’s performance and support for errors. This is separate from your coffee bags, brews and tasting notes. Google’s privacy policy also applies to its billing services.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, Dialed schedules them locally on your phone. They only ever concern coffee you entered yourself — a bag finishing its rest period, or a bag running low. No push server is involved and no notification data leaves your device. Android can also show an ongoing brew timer notification with the elapsed time and current pour step. You can turn notifications off in the app’s Settings or in your phone’s Settings.

Siri, Shortcuts and widgets

The App Intents, widgets and Control Centre control read a small summary of your coffee data from a shared container on your iPhone so they can display it. Android Home screen widgets, the Quick Settings tile, and app shortcuts read a summary from the app’s own storage. Those summaries never leave your phone.

Android ratings and permissions

Dialed may offer Google Play’s in-app review prompt. Any review goes directly to Google Play under your Google Account; Dialed does not see whether you left one or its text. Android permissions cover notifications, vibration for brewing cues, and, on Android 9 and older only, storage to save a brew card when you ask. Dialed does not request camera, microphone, location, contacts, or access to your photos.

Children

Dialed is rated 4+ and contains no objectionable material, but it is a tool for people who make coffee. We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. The Google billing diagnostics described above apply when billing is used.

Links out of the app

Dialed contains links to this policy, a support page, terms of use, and the relevant app store. Following one of those links opens your browser or store app and is subject to that site’s own privacy practices.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at https://soxoa.com/dialed/privacy with a new “last updated” date. If the app changes how it handles your data, we will update this policy and request any consent required for the change.
