Getting started
How do I get advice out of it?
Brew something, then rate the cup. Two sliders — one for acidity (sour ↔ bitter) and one for body (thin ↔ heavy) — are all the coach needs. Tap Get my next adjustment and it will give you one specific change to make next time.
Why does it only tell me one thing to change?
Because changing two variables at once means you learn nothing from the result. Dialed always gives you one primary move, with the alternatives tucked under If that doesn’t fix it.
Grinders
My grinder isn't in the list.
Choose Other · Grinder, then edit it: set the finest and coarsest positions on your dial, the smallest increment it moves in, and give it a name. It’ll work exactly like a built-in preset.
The suggested setting for my grinder looks wrong.
The shipped numbers are community starting points, not measurements. Calibrate it properly: Tools → Grinders & brewers → your grinder → Calibrate with two settings. Tell it where espresso and pour-over actually live on your dial and every recommendation from then on will be specific to your machine.
What are "microns"?
An estimate of the ground particle size. It’s the common language that lets Dialed convert a setting between two different grinders. Treat converted settings as a starting point and expect to fine-tune by an increment or two.
Brewing
Can I use my own recipe instead of the suggested pour schedule?
Yes. Dose, ratio, water and temperature are all editable before you start, and you can skip forwards or backwards through pour steps while the timer runs.
The timer stopped when I locked my phone.
It doesn’t — the clock is calculated from a start time, so it stays correct. Turn on Live Activities in Settings and the brew will appear on your Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island while it runs.
Cold brew has a 16-hour timer.
Start it, then leave. The elapsed time is worked out from when you started, so you can close the app and come back in the morning.
Bags and freshness
Where do the rest windows come from?
Espresso wants roughly 7–21 days off roast, filter roughly 3–14, shifted a few days later for light roasts and earlier for dark ones. They’re guidelines, not rules — the app uses them to tell you when a bag is likely still degassing or past its best.
My bag is running out faster than it should.
Dialed subtracts your dose from the bag every time you log a brew. Adjust the remaining amount any time in Shelf → the bag → Edit.

What does Pro add?
Unlimited coaching, the grind converter, unlimited bags and grinders, complete history and trends, widgets, brew card themes and data export.
How do I cancel?
Subscriptions are managed by Apple: Settings app → your name → Subscriptions, or from Tools → Settings → Manage subscription in Dialed. Cancelling before a free trial ends means you are not charged.
I paid but the app still says free.
Tap Restore on the paywall or Tools → Settings → Restore purchases, making sure you’re signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with.
Your data
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone. Dialed has no account and no server. See the privacy policy.
How do I back it up or move to a new phone?
Tools → Settings → Export my data writes a JSON file you can share or save. On the new phone, Import a backup reads it back in. Your data is also carried across by a normal iCloud device backup.
How do I delete everything?
Tools → Settings → Delete all brews and bags, or just delete the app.
Accessibility
Dialed supports VoiceOver, Dynamic Type at all sizes, Reduce Motion and both light and dark appearance. If something is hard to use, please tell us — that’s a bug worth fixing.
