Rarebit support

Email hello@soxoa.com and a person will answer. Most questions are one of the following.

My card minted as unverified. Why?

Rarebit checks that a capture came from a real camera pointed at real food, using scene depth, handheld motion and the fine banding a camera picks up off a screen. Photographing a phone, a monitor, a menu picture or a printed photo will usually fail those checks.

An unverified card stays in your binder, but earns no mint number, cannot be traded and does not complete sets. That is deliberate: if a screenshot could complete a set, completion would mean nothing. Open the card and tap Show all checks to see exactly which one did not pass.

If a genuine capture of real food is failing repeatedly, please email us with the check that is failing. That is a bug worth fixing.

Why did my card get less rare?

Rarity is not assigned by us. A dish is rare when it rarely appears across every capture in the network, so as more people catch a dish, its tier softens. That is the system working.

Value is a separate number. As a dish gets sought after, demand rises, and an early low mint number can be worth more than it was even as the tier comes down. Open a card and tap Show the maths to see the whole calculation.

How do I trade?

In person. Sit down with another collector, open Market, then Trades, then Trade nearby on both phones. You will find each other over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth. Pick what each side is putting up, and Rarebit appraises both sides before anyone accepts.

Only verified, unlocked cards can be traded. If you cannot see anything to offer, that is usually why.

What does Rarebit Plus actually unlock?

Full portfolio history, collection analytics, cosmetic frames, an unlimited wantlist, a larger showcase and a full JSON export of your collection.

It does not change foil odds, grades, rarity, mint numbers or set completion. Those are identical for everyone. The odds are published in the app under Settings, including the pity curve and your own current chance.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Subscriptions are managed by Apple, not by us. Open the App Store, tap your profile picture, then Subscriptions. Cancelling takes effect at the end of the period you have already paid for. Refunds are handled by Apple.

I lost my phone. Can I get my collection back?

If you had iCloud Backup or an encrypted local backup turned on, restoring the device restores Rarebit along with everything else. There is no account and no server copy, so a device restore is the only route. If you are on Plus, exporting your collection from Settings periodically is worth doing.

How do I delete everything?

Settings has two options: Delete all cards, which keeps your handle and the codex, and Delete everything, which resets the app to a fresh install. Both are immediate and cannot be undone. Deleting the app removes all of it too.

Can I use it without location?

Yes. Cards mint normally. You will not be able to catch region-locked dishes or claim venue drops, since both depend on actually being somewhere.
